Announcing our new Director of Summit Students - Robbie Long
June 24, 2026
Dear Summit Students' Parents,
We are excited to announce that after much prayer and discussion, our new Director of Summit Students will be Robbie Long. For those of you who don’t know them, Robbie and Susie Long have been in our church since they were both kids, and they have been faithfully serving in Summit Students over the last several years.
In the process of searching for our next Director of Summit Students, we considered several factors before pursuing Robbie:
We believe Robbie is a great model for your students of what it means to follow Jesus. He’s a faithful servant who will care for our mentors well. And he’s a trustworthy leader whom parents can partner with in the discipleship of their students. We are thrilled he has accepted this role and grateful for his desire to help students and families grow in the Gospel in the season ahead.
Please join us in welcoming Robbie and praying for him and Susie as he transitions into this new role.
Much love and grace,
The Summit Limestone Elders

Dear Summit Students' Parents,
We are excited to announce that after much prayer and discussion, our new Director of Summit Students will be Robbie Long. For those of you who don’t know them, Robbie and Susie Long have been in our church since they were both kids, and they have been faithfully serving in Summit Students over the last several years.
In the process of searching for our next Director of Summit Students, we considered several factors before pursuing Robbie:
- First, we restructured the role as a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position. While Luke Whaley served in a full-time capacity, his responsibilities extended beyond Summit Students to include areas such as Tech and Media Arts. After evaluating the needs of our student ministry, we believe a part-time Director focused exclusively on student ministry is the best use of our time and resources and will effectively serve our students, parents, and church family.
You can read the job description for Robbie here.
- Second, we placed a high value on hiring from within Summit Limestone. We believe continuity is strengthened when staff already have established relationships within our church family. While we were open to candidates from outside the church, Robbie had already invested deeply in our students, mentors, and parents, and we believe those existing relationships will help provide a smooth transition into this new season of Summit Students.
- Third, while Robbie is young, he has consistently demonstrated humble teachability, missional passion, and maturity beyond his years. So we are really excited to help him grow as a leader in the church. Specifically, he will have intentional times carved into his schedule with Chris and Bill to create ministry plans, build teams, teach and lead, and develop in his shepherding of families, students, and mentors.
- Finally, the most important factor we considered was Robbie’s love for Jesus and the way it overflows into every area of his life. Anyone who has spent time with the Longs can see that God and His glory are at the center of their home. Their commitment to the Gospel is evident in their marriage, their Missional Community, their work, and their everyday lives. We are deeply encouraged by their love for Christ, their love for others, and their commitment to the mission of the Church.
